Ingredient :
- IDLI BATTER
- Udad dal -1/2 cup
- Idli Rawa – 1 cup
- Salt – According to taste
- Sugar – 1/2 teaspoon
- TOMATO MASALA
- 2 tomatoes
- Green chilli -1
- Cumin seed – 1 tea spoon
- Onion -1
- Ginger -1/2 inch
- Salt and pepper (according to taste)
- Garlic clove- 4
- Star anise powder- small pinch
- Clove -1
- Oil – 1 teaspoon
Instruction:
Idli Batter:
- Wash and soak udad dal for 4 hours.
- Rinse and grind it make a fine batter.(add water if required)
- Add idli rawa and mix it. If the batter is too thick add little water and make a idli batter consistency.
- Ferment it over night.
- Now add salt and sugar mix well.
Tomato Masala:
- In a deep kadai medium heat add oil, then add garlic clove, ginger, cumin seed sauté it for 2 minutes.
- Now add chopped onion, clove, star anise powder and tomato. Let it cook for 5 min. When you smell the nice aroma turn on the heat(approx. 5 min). Add salt and pepper.
- Let it cool. Grind it make a fine paste.
Tomato idli preparation:
- In a deep bowl add idli batter , tomato masala mixture and mix well.
- Pour these mixture in to idli mould steam it for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Serve hot with ghee and chutney.
