Neer Dose is a traditional recipe from Mangalore, made of soaked rice and freshly grated coconut.
No fermentation is needed for this recipe; it tastes incredibly soft and delicious.
- 1 cup unpolished rice
- 1/2 cup freshly grated coconut
- Salt to taste
- First soak the unpolished rice for 3-4 hrs, blend it with freshly grated coconut and water, make a fine batter..
- Then add salt to taste and water. The batter consistency should be “watery,” as the name says.
- Grease the pan and pour the batter. Close the lid and let it cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Then enjoy with chutney.
