Karonda Chutney/ ಕವಳಿ ಹಣ್ಣನ ಚಟ್ನಿ

Karonda Chutney/ ಕವಲಿ ಹಣ್ಣಿನ ಚಟ್ನಿ is a spicy and sweet chutney made of wild fruit Karondas/ Carissa carandas and spices.


  • 1 cup Karonda / Carissa carandas
  • 1 sp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Hing / Asafoetida
  • 1/2 Garam Masala
  • 5-6 Curry leaves
  • 2 Garlic (chopped)
  • 1 Green chilli (chopped)
  • 3 tablespoon Jaggery

Method :

  • Wash and rinse karonda, remove the seeds and keep it aside.
  • In a sauce pan over medium heat add oil, mustard seeds,hing, garlic, chilli.
  • Sauté for 1 minute then add seeded karonda.
  • Then add jaggery, salt to taste, curry leaves and garam masala.
  • Cook for 4-5 minutes or until 1 string consistency.
  • Turn off the heat transfer it to container.
  • Store it in a refrigerator 10-12 days.
  • Enjoy with rice or roti.
